New General Contractor for PHH Hotels Project in Poznań

15/09/2025

PHH Hotels Sp. z o.o., a company belonging to the Polski Holding Hotelowy Capital Group, has announced the selection of a new general contractor for the modernization of the Ikar Hotel in Poznań. The project has been entrusted to Chemobudowa – Kraków S.A., one of the most experienced construction companies in Poland, which has already begun work on site. The change follows the termination of cooperation with the previous contractor earlier this year. Upon completion in the fourth quarter of 2026, the property will operate under the Four Points by Sheraton brand.

The investment concerns the Ikar Hotel, located close to the center of Poznań. The property became part of the PHH Group in 2019 as part of the consolidation of assets owned by state entities. The ongoing redevelopment aims to adapt the building to the standards of Marriott International’s franchise requirements and legal regulations for 4-star hotels. Chemobudowa – Kraków S.A., with more than 1,200 completed projects across Poland and Europe, was appointed as the new general contractor.

- The implementation of the Poznań hotel project reflects our clearly defined investment priorities. We have adopted a new project management model, creating interdisciplinary investment teams where experts from each field are directly engaged on-site. This approach allows us to respond more effectively to challenges and ensures the highest quality execution, step by step, paying close attention to every detail of this investment,” said Agnieszka Malinowska, Member of the Management Board, Polski Holding Hotelowy Capital Group.

Chemobudowa has already commenced work on the construction site in Poznań.

- The Ikar Hotel redevelopment is one of the key projects of our group, crucial for strengthening the position of PHH Hotels in the Greater Poland region as well as our cooperation with the Four Points by Sheraton brand. Chemobudowa has extensive experience in delivering construction projects, and we believe their expertise will translate into high-quality work and the efficient completion of the investment,” said Marcin Ziobro, President of the Management Board of PHH Hotels.

The hotel will offer 156 rooms, with interiors designed in a “modern vintage” aesthetic—a harmonious combination of contemporary forms with retro accents inspired by the 1950s and 1960s. Guests will also have access to a spacious conference area, a restaurant, and a bar. The surroundings of the hotel will also be modernized, including new surfaces and a natural green barrier to isolate the terrace from street traffic and improve acoustic comfort. The first guests are expected to be welcomed in the fourth quarter of next year.

- We are grateful for the trust placed in us by PHH Hotels. The modernization of the Poznań property is an important undertaking that allows us to showcase our experience in delivering public-use buildings, including hotels that meet the standards of global chains. As general contractor, we will make every effort to ensure that this next collaboration with PHH proceeds smoothly and with full professionalism,” said Ziemowit Borowczak, Vice President – Management Board Member for Investments and Development, Chemobudowa – Kraków S.A.
