Investments with Polish DNA. The PHH Group launches projects in Zakopane, Szklarska Poręba and Kołobrzeg

Polish Hotel Holding is consistently implementing its portfolio optimization strategy by launching further investments in popular Polish resort destinations. The projects in Zakopane, Szklarska Poręba and Kołobrzeg will redefine the existing properties, transforming them into modern leisure and health-resort complexes. A common denominator of these initiatives is the Local Content approach – respect for local architectural identity and the entrusting of the work to renowned Polish design studios. The total value of the investments amounts to PLN 325 million.

Zakopane: a modernized resort in the Podhale spirit

One of the projects carried out by the holding is the complete transformation of the Geovita property in Zakopane, located on the slopes of Antałówka. According to the investment schedule, the property will be closed in 2027 and, following a comprehensive redevelopment, will reopen to guests in 2029 as a four-star hotel. The hotel will enter the market under a completely new in-house brand and will operate within the Resort business line. The value of the investment is PLN 104 million.

The architectural concept is being developed by a Polish architectural consortium: the Warsaw-based studio Architektura AGK and the Zakopane-based office M3. This choice of partners ensures a unique synergy between nationwide experience and an authentic understanding of Podhale architecture. A key assumption of the project is to ensure that the property fits naturally into the authentic character of the location.

Szklarska Poręba: a modern standard within the Resort line

At the same time, Interferie S.A., a company belonging to the Group, has finalized an agreement with AGK studio for the preparation of full design documentation for a new four-star hotel, which will be built on the site of the current Hotel Bornit in Szklarska Poręba.

The design work, aimed at selecting the optimal architectural and functional concept, will take approximately 12 months. The new 4-star hotel will offer around 200 modern rooms, an extensive SPA area, an indoor swimming pool and an advanced treatment base. This property will also operate within the Resort business line. Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027, with an estimated duration of around two years. The cost of this investment is PLN 121 million.

Kołobrzeg: a new quality in health-resort hospitality

The third planned investment is the modernization and expansion of the Chalkozyn Sanatorium and Holiday Centre in Kołobrzeg. Interferie S.A. has signed an agreement with the Gdynia-based architectural office CKK Architekci for the preparation of design documentation. This process will take around 10 months and constitutes direct preparation for the construction phase, scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2027. The opening is planned in two stages – in the second and fourth quarters of 2028.

As a result, the property will gain two new buildings, creating a base of 290 modern rooms. The complex will be equipped with modern rehabilitation and recreational infrastructure, an advanced treatment base, and a SPA area with an indoor swimming pool. Chalkozyn will be incorporated into the Health Resort business line.

All three investments are part of PHH’s long-term strategy of diversifying its product portfolio and increasing the profitability of its assets. Shifting the focus towards the Resort and Health Resort segments allows for a flexible response to macroeconomic trends, including the growing importance of medical tourism and well-being.

“The investments in Zakopane, Szklarska Poręba and Kołobrzeg are milestones in the development of our Group, but they are also clear proof of how we understand the Local Content strategy in practice. By inviting Polish architects to cooperate with us, we ensure that the new projects fully respect the identity, history and unique atmosphere of the places in which they are created. Operational optimization and hard business indicators go hand in hand here with responsibility for the Polish architectural landscape and the domestic supplier market,” says Rafał Szmytke, President of the Management Board of the PHH Group.
